1st Afghan U.S. Summit Final Statement

The Afghanistan United Front has called for an end to the tyrannical control of the Taliban over Afghanistan, and for the US to designate the Taliban as terrorists.

The call came at the 1st Afghan U.S. Summit on the third anniversary of the disastrous US withdrawal from Afghanistan, and the fall of the Afghan Republic, in the AUF’s political office in VA, United States.

The head of the AUF, Lieutenant General Sami Sadat, supported the current appeal in Congress by South Carolina Congresswoman Nancy Mace to ban federal funding of the Taliban, and to designate the Taliban as a terrorist entity.

“The Taliban have turned Afghanistan into Terrorist Central,” he said. “Al Qaeda now have a safe haven, and terrorists worldwide look to the Taliban for support.” Afghanistan is a global threat, as militant groups worldwide have pledged allegiance to the Taliban leader, Mullah Haibatullah Akhunzada.

The meeting called for the US to investigate countries that are legitimizing the Taliban and funding them.

The editor of the Long War Journal, Bill Roggio, said there was an illusion in the Biden administration that there were any moderate Taliban. “There is no such thing as a moderate in the Taliban. There was never a Taliban 2.0.” He said that al Qaeda never went away and were now strong in Afghanistan. Without effective opposition, another attack on the scale of 9/11 was inevitable. Sara Harmouch, the founder & CEO of H9 Defense, said that the current al-Qaeda leader Saif ul-Adle, was far more dangerous than his predecessor, and was backed by Iran-forming a strong nexus of Iran, al-Qaeda, and the Taliban.

The meeting brought together concerned Americans with Afghans from several generations. It heard moving stories of how life has become so much worse for women in the only country in the world where girls are banned from school. Maternal mortality has risen dramatically as the Taliban impose restrictions on women traveling, which means that they find it hard to access medical care.

Any attempt to restore democracy in Afghanistan will have strong support from the US veteran’s community, who were shocked and angered by President Biden’s decision to withdraw.

Will Selber, the founder of Grumpy Combat Veterans and Friends Media, said that all were united on one thing, opposition to the Taliban.

The Taliban are turning out a new generation of terrorists by teaching militancy in schools. Children are being trained as suicide bombers in religious schools, madrassas, that were the crucible of the Taliban in the first place and are a breeding ground for the next generation of terrorists.

The Afghanistan United Front was formed to restore the Afghan republic, governed under a constitution agreed by its people with equality for all, and rights for women, at no threat to its neighbors or the wider world.
