Afghanistan United Front (AUF) extends its sincere congratulations to President-elect Donald J. Trump and his team on his historic return to the White House as the 47th President of the United States, as well as to the Republican Party for securing control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
It has been over three years since Afghanistan lost its democratic footing, with terrorism resurging to levels more dangerous than ever before. Now, a new approach and comprehensive strategy for countering terrorism are essential to make the world a safer, more peaceful place—allowing Afghans to live freely and rejoin the international community as valued contributors.
Afghans are fully committed to freeing their country, leading the charge in defeating the Taliban, and combating terrorism in the region on behalf of the world. We do not ask for boots on the ground; rather, we call for political and technical support to address this escalating threat once and for all. We seek to restore the hope built with American support following the defeat of the Taliban in 2001, and to establish a stable democracy in Afghanistan.
AUF believes that a renewed partnership and strategic course of action between the United States and Afghan freedom forces are crucial to countering the escalating threats of terrorism originating from Afghanistan, as we have successfully defeated terrorism together as allies with U.S. military support in the past.
Afghanistan can become a reliable ally for the United States in South Asia, and we look forward to working closely with the newly elected administration to craft a renewed partnership aimed at addressing the root causes of terrorism and restoring stability to Afghanistan, the broader region, and the global community.
